A degree from Harper Adams can take you anywhere, including into banking - as Sioned Davies has proved with her journey from a BSc (Hons) in Agri-Food Marketing with Business to Oxbury Bank’s graduate scheme.
After achieving her a-levels and an agricultural diploma, Sioned, who is from a farm in mid-Wales, applied to the Agri Academy Junior programme through Farming Connect - which then prompted her to apply to Harper Adams.
The 23-year-old became interested in an agricultural banking career after talking to Oxbury at a Harper Adams Careers Day that she attended in her fourth year and after a successful interview joined the company in 2020.
Harper Adams University is currently working with Oxbury Bank to offer placements and graduate programmes.
Head of Food, Land and Agribusiness Management at Harper Adams, Rebecca Payne, says, “Sioned and her five colleagues are such an inspiring example of how Harper Adams and Oxbury Bank are creating exciting and challenging opportunities for graduates. I believe that the sound, underpinning knowledge, critical thinking skills and real-world experience we offer undergraduates on our programmes here at the university creates the perfect environment for new recruits to hit the ground running.”
“Sioned’s role (and those of her colleagues) have the potential to transform the way our sector works. Their use of agricultural data and up to date insights generated by the team adds value for Oxbury Bank Customers and offers real opportunities for sustainable growth… making this a win-win scenario.”
